Homeschooling during the high school years doesn’t have to be a prescribed method that looks just like public school at home! In fact, it’s best if it doesn’t look just like the traditional model. Let’s aim to have a balanced high school homeschool instead.
What?? If we don’t follow the traditional model, what about college? What about transcripts? What about accreditation? What about the ACT and SAT?
Rest assured, I’m a huge believer that every single child deserves a “college bound” education. I consider it one of our biggest responsibilities as homeschooling parents, in fact.
College bound and traditional are two different things. Our children can still pass college entrance exams and have a full transcript even if we step outside of the traditional model. And the lack of “accreditation” hasn’t given one homeschooler that I’ve met over the last 20 years the slightest problem when it comes to college.
I promise, we can certainly offer our high schoolers a college bound education using a variety of curriculum and opportunities. And that’s exactly what we’ll be discussing during this practical homeschool masterclass!
Interest-led learning is a big deal during the high school years. It’s often during this stage of life that our children truly begin to discover some of their passions. Allowing time for exploration of their interests can go a long way in helping them to make confident decisions about their future.
Whether you have an up-and-coming high schooler or your student is already in the thick of it, let me help you consider a balanced high school homeschool plan that leaves lots of wiggle room for passions, student-directed learning, and learning outside of the traditional model.
I’ve graduated two kiddos from high school who have had lots of success in college. For both, I crafted a high school plan that was designed uniquely for them. In both instances, the plan included some traditional classes alongside other out-of-the-box things like student-led classes, co-op classes, online classes, internships, mentorships, extra-curricular activities, jobs, and more.
During this masterclass, I’ll show you exactly how I go about planning a balanced high school homeschool. By the end of the class, you’ll have plenty of tools and vision to create your own balanced plan!
