Three babies. You’d think I’d pretty much learned it all by now, wouldn’t you? On the contrary! I think I’ve learned more this time around, and believe it or not, what I’ve learned has nothing to do with babies.

I’ve learned that taking meals to people REALLY means something to them and IS AN IMPORTANT MINISTRY. It not only takes the load off of them when life is hectic (or sad, or rough), but lets them know that they are important to others and others really care for them.

I WILL NOT hesitate anymore to make a meal or take a treat to someone in need. Someone who’s lost a loved one, someone who’s just had a baby, someone who’s been in the hospital, someone who’s going through a trial. They need the nourishment both physically and emotionally. Their family needs it, too.

It’s easy to think that you don’t want to “bother” the family in need. It’s easy to think that they surely must have too many meals as it is. It’s easy to think that you just don’t have enough time to prepare a meal for yourself and someone else. All of those reasons are just excuses and I won’t be bothered with excuses any more!

I’m so thankful to have wonderful friends and family who have taught me such a valuable lesson!! Thank you!

Thank you to all who have been praying for us! Little Eli came into the world on December 23rd at 3:43am. He weighed 7lbs 15.4 oz and was 18 inches long. It’s been a long week with all the excitement of the holidays on top of trying to get used to a new baby, but each day gets a LITTLE easier for us all.

Mahayla and Caleb love their brother like crazy! They have been such a help to me as I’ve been extremely tired because of Eli’s love of being awake at night. It’s going to take some getting used to for them to completely adjust to a different sort of life, but as we all get back into some sort of schedule, they will be fine.

Starting at four days old, Eli had to go to the hospital three days in a row for bilirubin tests. Thankfully, his levels started dropping by the third trip and we haven’t had to go back. I was a mess emotionally because of the normal postpartum weepies, but taking my little newborn to a hospital full of really sick people just about sent me over the edge! The Lord was good to protect him from all the bad germs.

He is a beautiful and healthy little boy and we feel so blessed to be given another child to love and care for. As we have prayed for each of our children, we pray that Eli will grow to know and love the Lord and to be used mightily in His kingdom.

Thank you for all your support and prayers through the pregnancy. Having a newborn in the house warrants plenty of prayers if you want to keep remembering us for awhile!
