2012-13 Curriculum and Schedule

Wow. My eleventh official year of homeschooling lies ahead. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I am ever-so-thankful for the time to be home with my children and I consider it an honor and a privilege to plan another full year of exciting learning.

As I say every year…the plans below are SO tentative. We will begin the year using the curriculum listed and the schedule set, but nothing is set in stone until it works well for us. Oh, and remember that I’m rarely ever using everything listed at one time. We pick and pull from various subjects and various curricula each day (and hardly ever complete each and every lesson in any text or workbook!) So, please don’t go into panic mode thinking you aren’t asking enough of your children.

Before you read on, I recently revamped the schoolroom and thought you might like to take a peek into where (at least some of) our schoolwork is done, too.

2012-13 Curriculum

Mahayla {10th Grade}

{with Saxon Teacher!}

{with chemistry lab at co-op weekly}

{we’re also trying out a Standard Deviants DVD called SAT Verbal}

Caleb {7th Grade}

{with one or more of the following to go along with each lesson: Daily Paragraph Editing, Diagramming Sentences, Operation English Grammar Lapbook}

{I’m including a fun and meaningful project, too – Grandfather’s Wisdom Interview Lapbook}

{other language arts books I’ll pull from: Jacob’s Ladder Reading Comprehension Program, How to Use the Thesaurus, Rockin’ Root Words}

{other logic activities will come from my favorite resources and Revenge of the Logic Spiders}

Together

Besides daily time in the Word, our l-o-n-g list of hopeful devotionals and Christian character-building books includes:

{beefed up a bit for Mahayla and interspersed with Global Mania}

{with further vocabulary building fun from Word Roots}

Artist and Composer Study

Eli {Kindergarten}

{along with tons of character-building literature}

{additional supplements include Bob Books, Starfall, Literature Pockets, Folk Tales and Fairy Tales, and Explode the Code 1}

{logic fun will come from Primarily Bears, Lollipop Logic, and Revenge of the Riddle Spiders A1}

We’ll do several fun science experiments and read tons of books about science topics, historical events, missionaries, etc. I don’t have a set plan of action, though. I’m sure I’ll blog about some of our adventures along the way!

I’ve written about our general daily schedule before. I don’t expect it to change much this year since it works so well with the ebb and flow of our family. Below you will find each day’s tentative study schedule.
