As it was…so it will be.

Posted by Cindy on January 6, 2011

I’m the lady in Walmart carrying a 2-foot pile of magazines to the customer service desk.  Everyone watches me to see what in the world I might be doing with all those magazines.  I politely lay them on the counter saying, “I’ll leave these with you.  The photos offend me and my innocent ten-year-old son doesn’t need these images burned in his mind.”

I’m sure you’ve seen the magazines, too.  They’re almost impossible to miss as you wait in line to pay for your groceries.  Barely there bikini’s, women kissing each other, S*X plastered all over the place, women with their fake breasts bulging posed in very s*exual positions.  I’ve decided to take a stand.

Sadly, I didn’t take this stand often enough until my son asked me to.  It’s his prompting that has now turned me into an aisle cleaner.  And it’s for his sake (and the sake of anyone else who will find their way into my line at the store) that I will remove all the disgusting displays of s*exual perversion and kindly drop them off to the customer service desk.

Maybe if enough of us become aisle cleaners, our stores will get the message.  If nothing else, we’ll get them talking (albeit in questionable words) as they restock our aisles time and time again.

Jesus told us in Matthew 24:37, “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.”  Americans are living like those in the days of Noah.  I’m determined to fight the devil as he tries to infiltrate the minds of my family with the “normalcy” of perversion.  It’s going to be an uphill battle, but one I have no choice to fight because the devil can’t have my children!

Publix grocery store covers the magazine covers leaving only the title. I much prefer to shop there anyway.. they KNOW how to treat a customer. Walmart doesn’t care.

        • Love it!! I hate looking at that stuff at the checkout and having my girls check it out too. I think I’ll do the same!

            Cindy,
I am glad you did this. I usually walk up and turn over
the offensive ones while my children are busy checking out all the little knick knacks they have around.
            God Bless You.

This is the second person I have heard of doing this! I think I might have to try it. Like you said, if enough people do this, they will get the point. Love hearing from you!

Hooray for you! I have felt the same way. What was the response of the customer service person? I completely agree…there is no need for that stuff to be exposed at eye level for children to see.

Cindy…you and my husband would make a great team. He is always willing to tell anyone that isn’t doing the right thing what they should do. Way to go! That is one of the reasons I love Publix, they cover up anything suggestive. Worth the extra money for groceries to not have to see the trash on the magazines

Cindy….I love this! Our chain grocery store called Publix covers up most of the front cover of some of the magazines at the check outs. You can only see the name of the magazine.

You are such a couragious woman! I have felt those same feelings MANY times while shopping at the grocery store. It is horrible that we have to be subject to such disgusting images while completing such a normal everyday task. I was not familiar with the Scripture that you posted, but I have had the thought many times about how our culture IS becoming just like that of the one in Noah’s time. Scary!
