Out of the mouth of a three-year-old came such truth. He was praising God for His beauty and creativeness and didn’t even know it!
Our catalpa tree is in bloom. From a distance, it’s very pretty – clusters of white flowers dangling. But take a look at the view when you take the time to really look at the flowers.

How often do we take the time to “see the painting inside” of God’s creation? Nature study is purposeful time to breathe in God’s awesomeness and to see the endless “paintings” He’s placed before us. Don’t miss them!

As I was taking a picture of this the other day…
I heard this zoom past me…
He was off to help his Daddy.
And when they were finished with all their manly jobs, the tractors were parked.

Tucked away in downtown Maysville, KY, overlooking the Ohio River is the National Underground Railroad Museum. My children had the pleasure of touring the museum located in the Bierbower House, which was a safe house for runaway slaves. Crawling through an underground tunnel that opened into a small room of four beds, runaway slaves could rest here before crossing the close-by river into Ohio and into freedom.

Many stories, artifacts and displays went along with a tour of the house and safe quarters. It’s a good addition to a study of slavery, along with The Freedom Center in Cincinnati.

Eli attended the Mother-Daughter Banquet with us this year. He wanted to look special, so he added a very handsome tie to his outfit. With a strawberry spongecake smile he posed for this most precious of pictures.

Goats! The kiddos are going to try their hand at showing goats at the fair this summer. They’re just as cute as can be, but I hear horror stories about goats carrying lice. (Gasp!) I’m amazed at how much fun my children and husband have “playing” with animals and hanging out at the barn. Me, I’ll take chores in the house any day over animal chores!
