Slavery and Civil War Book Treasures

Posted by Cindy on March 30, 2009

I can’t tell you enough about how we have been blessed by reading the books below during our slavery and Civil War unit study.  These books were so fantastic – in information, emotion and ability put us in the midst of the time period.  I recommend each of them as living books!

(I haven’t included the books from my sidebar, which are equally as good.  They will end up in another post soon.)

    • You always have such great ideas. How do you get all of those books read? Would you be interested in sharing your schedule sometime, now that your “little one” is a little older now (and probably busier, if he is anything like my 3 year old son :) .

        • We loved reading Across Five Aprils many years ago. We still talk about it when we are discussing how difficult politics can be and was during that particular time period.

          Lots of great stuff here.
